ABOUT

Estate People is a multisensory digital gallery offering a personal look into London’s estate life using image and sound. Featuring a series of field recordings and the photographic works of three residents and a series of field recordings, this is a tenant-led project aimed at exhibiting the multifaceted nature of community.

Beginning with the question, “How do tenants of social housing estates choose to represent their space and community using photography?” Estate People weaves image and sound together to provide outsiders with an immersive experience onto the estate. Photographic works exhibited here are uncurated and unedited to emphasize the rawness and true intimacy of Estate People‘s mission. By offering a realistic glimpse at life in social housing, Estate People aims to amend misrepresentation and prejudice. A poignant reflection into the everyday of estate people.

“I’ve also wanted to do a photography project of the estate, real life life, not from an outside perspective”
